What are Cataracts?

Cataracts form as a natural part of the aging process within the eye. As you age, the proteins inside your eye’s natural lens begin to break down and clump together, causing it to become cloudy.

The clouding of the lens blocks light from reaching the retina at the back of the eye. When this happens, blurry vision and glare are the typical results.

Once your cataract symptoms begin to interfere with your daily routine, your eye doctor at Mitchell Refractive Surgery and Eye Center will recommend cataract surgery. Cataract surgery is a safe and effective way to restore your vision, and our cataract surgeon, Dr. Kubal, is very experienced in this procedure.

During cataract surgery, Dr. Kubal will remove your natural lens and replace it with an artificial lens, also known as an intraocular lens or IOL. At Mitchell Refractive Surgery and Eye Center, we offer a variety of IOLs and will help you determine which lens is best for you, depending on your visual goals, lifestyle, and budget.

There are even premium IOLs to choose from, like the Vivity and PanOptix lenses, which can allow you to
